You may have heard that Sheffield Voices is not currently running an art group, but don’t worry! – a new Friendship Art Group is starting on Fridays from Friday 10th January from 2 – 4pm at the Israac Centre, 54 Cemetery Road, Sheffield, S11 8FP.Many familiar faces from the old group will be there, so you’ll feel right at home, and of course new faces are welcome!

The Sheffield University Theatre Company (SUTCo) has opened a consultation into the effectiveness of accessible performances of their theatre productions. Responses will be used to create guidance materials for student production teams to ensure their performances are as inclusive as possible and cater to the needs of the community.

Music superstars Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have given a charity for people with learning disabilities a tasteful boost by sampling a track made by them on their latest release. The American hip-hop legends have used Watermelon Fantasy, a song created by Daylight Studio on Outta Da Blue, with royalties going towards helping the studio’s future work.

Only 3 out of 10 autistic people are in any kind of employment. We’ve been supporting a project at the Sheffield Autism Research lab ( ShARL ) at Sheffield University. The project has produced resources for employers around Autism in the workplace and the benefits of hiring autistic people.

The UK Health Security Agency has issued an amber alert for all of England from midday on 2 January to midday on 12 January. They have issued guidance for the public and you can also visit the NHS for advice on keeping healthy during the winter.

Our Sheffield Voices self advocacy group would like to invite you to their next Big Voice Conference on Friday, January 24th from 10am to 2pm at Sheffield Town Hall . The theme for this conference is Mental Health : Be Kind to Your Mind. This event is for people with a learning disability and Autistic people living in the Sheffield area and we also welcome service representatives.
