    Disabled Claimants Win UC Income Loss Challenge

    Two severely disabled men have won a legal challenge over the Department Of Work And Pensions’ failure to provide adequate transitional payments to protect them and others from a loss of income following their move on to Universal Credit. The DWP is found to have discriminated against the pair when it didn’t compensate them the full payment of around £180 a month difference in the payments on legacy benefits.

    DPAC Sheffield In Benefits Uplift Campaign Call

    The Sheffield branch of campaigning organisation Disabled People Against Cuts has produced a survey which can be filled in anonymously by anyone affected by changes to benefits during the Coronavirus pandemic. DPAC Sheffield is protesting about people on legacy benefits not being eligible for the £20 uplift in Universal Credit. A second ‘Day of Action’ will take place on Monday March 1, two days before the Government’s Budget is announced.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
