    Rosie Future For Dysarthria Awareness Day

    Speech disorder dysarthria may not always be a laughing matter – but comedian Rosie Jones has praised a Sheffield-based campaign to publicise the problems caused by it. Dysarthria Awareness Day was set up by the Human Communication Sciences department at the University of Sheffield and is backed by several speech organisations.

    City Hosts Dysarthria Awareness Day

    The world’s first ever Dysarthria Awareness Day was held in Sheffield recently. Dysarthria occurs when the muscles used to talk are weak or a person has difficulty controlling them. It most often results in slurred slow speech. Among those taking part was Disability Sheffield volunteer John Quinn.

    Do you have difficulty with your speech? If so, researchers at The University of Sheffield are seeking the views of people with Dysarthria, a common speech difficulty, focusing on how people with dysarthria communicate emotions.
