Speakup about Smart Meters

Speakup Self Advocacy are running some free Energy Saving Zoom workshop sessions in November for people with learning disabilities, autistic people and carers to explain how Smart Meters can help to save money on your Electricity and Gas Bills
They say

“The cost of heating our homes is going up. We are all worried about this and want to try to help everyone. Smart Meters are a good idea because they may help people to be in more control of their bills and they are free.

We have set up some free Zoom sessions which you can join to find out how to get a smart meter, how they work and also find out about other ways to save energy.”

The sessions are for 30 minutes and these are the dates:

  • Monday 7th November 11am
  • Tuesday 8th November 10am
  • Wednesday 16th November 1pm
  • Thursday 24th November 4pm
  • Wednesday 30th November 3pm

If you would like to join a workshop please email smart@speakup.org.uk to say which one and they will send you an email.

Speakup Self Advocacy has produced information under the title My home, my energy. I have the power!. This lists tips to help take control of your bills, stay warm and healthy and keep safe, which can be downloaded here. Self advocates at Speakup have put together a list of their tips on Saving Money this Winter.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
