Speak Up for ME and Fibromyalgia

Speak Up for ME and Fibromyalgia

Funded by a Healthwatch Sheffield #SpeakUp Grant, Sheffield ME and Fibromyalgia Group are conducting a survey and focus groups of people who experience ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia in order to:-

  • Improve access to health & social care support for people living with the conditions
  • Monitor and promote the implementation of the groundbreaking 2021 NICE guideline for ME/CFS

They explain “This year is Sheffield ME & Fibromyalgia Group’s 20th anniversary of representing and supporting people in the Sheffield region. The chronic invisible illnesses we support are common, but poorly researched and without a cure. They can be disabling and greatly isolating for sufferers: 25% of people with ME/CFS are severely ill, leaving them housebound or bedbound. So ensuring access to health and social care is a driving priority for our charity.”

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
