South Yorkshire Teaching Partnership Direct Payment Project Focus Group

Doncaster Council has been commissioned by the South Yorkshire Teaching Partnership ( SYTP ) to undertake a piece of research to identify best practice for Local Authorities offering Direct Payments to adults in England and the implications for workforce development. The objectives of this piece of research are to:

• evaluate national and local policy directives and best practice reports
• critically evaluate practice approaches to direct payments across the SYTP region
• analyse how the workforce in each Local Authority is trained and developed on direct payments
• identify gaps in meeting guidance / legislation
• identify training needs for social workers and service managers

A focus group will take place on Monday 18th March from 9.30 to 12.00 noon at St Mary’s Church, Bramall Lane S2 4QZ. The first session of the focus group is for staff involved in organising Direct Payments, and the second session from 11.00 to 12.00 noon is for people who receive direct payments or their families, carers, PA’s etc..

If you are interested in attending the second session of the focus group please complete a Direct Payment recipient’s questionnaire by Friday 15 March . The data from the questionnaires will be used as a starting point for discussions. Please also register your interest in attending by emailing Karen.Milner@doncaster.gov.uk .

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
