See The Light At Dementia-Friendly Film Screenings

The Light Cinema on The Moor in Sheffield is holding special dementia-friendly screenings to ensure that those living with the condition have the opportunity to watch films in adapted environments.

At a dementia-friendly screening there are no adverts or trailers and the lighting is slightly raised throughout the film. There is also an interval roughly half-way through. Although these screenings are particularly designed to be accessible for people with dementia, they are open to the general public too.

Please note that care is not provided at these events. A friend, family member or carer must also attend. Tickets are £5 each with free entry for accompanying carers . More information can be found on the cinema’s website. Upcoming films are Casablanca and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

The Light Cinema is the latest Sheffield venue to organise dementia-friendly events, following in the footsteps of Sheffield Theatres, which already has special performances and monthly tea dances.
