Money Matters for Single Parent Mums

The Women’s Hub, part of Sheffield’s Equality Hub Network is currently running The Money Matters project and would particularly like to hear from any disabled single parent Mum.

The project is part of the Women’s Hub ‘Women and Poverty’ working group, and aims to raise awareness of the effects of austerity on single parent women.

Volunteers from the Women’s Hub are talking with as many single parent mums as possible, from all backgrounds, about how they cope financially and practically.

The aim of the project is to improve services in Sheffield and raise awareness of the impacts of wage poverty and austerity on single parent mums, who are more likely to experience poverty than other groups.

The types of questions the project are interested in hearing your responses too include:

  • Do you lack financial security?
  • Are you forgetting your wellbeing as you juggle family, work or other expectations?
  • have you felt isolated?
  • How easy is it for you to get secure work?
  • Are money pressures getting you down?

If you would like to contribute to this project and help the Sheffield Women’s Hub improve services aimed at women in the city, you can complete the Money matters Questionnaire here.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
