Get Involved - Quality Improvement Network

People who use adult social care and their family carers have the opportunity to work with Sheffield City Council to improve the quality of their services. Whether you’re a service user or carer, or pay for your own care, the Council welcomes your views and wants to involve you in checking and improving the quality of the social care services and the information and advice they provide in Sheffield. To help you to bring your own personal experience and expertise to the development of their services the Council has set up a number of service improvement forums that meet every other month. The forums provide an opportunity to meet other people and work with senior managers to check up on the quality of their services and set priorities for the future:-

• Adults Service Improvement Forum – for disabled adults and older people. This forum has been established for 7 years but they are keen to invite new members

• Learning Disability Service Improvement Forum – this is a new forum looking to build their membership. Anne Flanagan, Head of Learning Disability Services attends this forum to hear from you and work with you to make improvements.

• Carers Service Improvement Forum – this is also a new forum looking to build their membership. Phil Holmes, Director of Adult Social Care attends and is taking a keen interest in the issues identified by this forum.

• Readers Group
If you’d like to engage with the Council in a less formal setting and you have an eye for detail you can join a friendly and informal Readers Group. This group looks at leaflets, letters, and guides etc. over a cup of tea and a biscuit. They give feedback on whether information is easy to understand and helpful. You don’t need to be an expert reader as everything will be read aloud. You don’t need to be using services to join.

• Network Membership
If you use adult social care services and meetings are not for you, but you wish to be informed and have a way to have your say, then please sign up to our network. We will then send you a briefing paper every other month.

The Council will cover any out of pocket expenses you have from coming to meetings e.g. travel, PA costs. and make any reasonable adjustments you need in order to take part. Meetings will always be held in an accessible, city centre venue.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
