DWP Easy Read Report about ESA and PIP Assessments

Following our earlier news article detailing how ESA and PIP assessments would now be recorded, the Department for Work and Pensions has published an Easy Read version of the government’s reply to the House of Commons Committee of Members of Parliament (MPs) who have been looking into how Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) are assessed. Documents written in an Easy Read format are written in a way that makes them more accessible to people with learning disabilities.

The easy read report includes:-

  • PIP explained
  • ESA explained
  • What the MPs said
  • Things to improve before assessments take place
  • Things to change about assessments
  • How assessment companies work

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.
