Disabled Travel Writer's Staying At Home Tips

A leading disabled travel expert has written about how she and others can cope with life during the coronavirus lockdown.

Carrie-Ann Lightley, a wheelchair user based in the Lake District, writes an accessible travel blog, sharing reviews, guides and expert tips about travel as a disabled person in the UK and overseas. The blog aims to encourage and inspire others to travel to, explore and discover new places.

In 2019, Carrie-Ann was named as one of the top 100 most influential disabled people in the UK, in the Shaw Trust’s Power List. She is also marketing manager at AccessAble, a leading provider of accessibility information and before that spent 13 years at Tourism For All .
However with most travel banned at the moment, Carrie-Ann’s latest blog is entitled A disabled travel blogger in isolation – Coping With Covid-19 and offers help on how to deal with life during the lockdown. This includes cookery tips, advice on coping with anxiety and fitness guides such as a cardio workout for wheelchair users.

Carrie-Ann has also spoken to another leading disability activist and blogger Martyn Sibley on his YouTube channel.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
