Debbie and Eddie Smash It

Debbie and Eddie Smash It

Our wonderful fundraisers Debbie and Eddie have completed their 10 day coast to coast challenge to raise money for our urgent appeal !

In an epic journey from St Bees in Cumbria they arrived in the North Yorkshire fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay on 9 May after walking 210 miles and ascending roughly 9000m ,about the same elevation as Mount Everest!! For the stats minded here are a few !

Total steps in 10 days: 538,662
Average daily: 53,866.2
Max steps in one day: 77,377

Totalling: 339.37kms/210.875 miles
Averaging: 33.937 av. Ks a day/21 mls a day

Pack weight: Debbie 17kg, Eddie 20kg pack

Debbie and Eddie have so far raised a spectacular £1,255 of their £1,000 target. WOW, congratulations you two!

Debbie says “We are very proud of ourselves and so grateful for all who donated. We just hope this money really goes where it is needed and can make a difference to the charity. We actually did more than the 9000m elevation of Mount Everest! This was due to us missing a 90° left hand un-signposted turn, rushing to watch the rugby actually! Unwittingly climbing the opposite fell called the Roman High Street At 828 metres – its summit being the highest point in the far eastern part of the national park. We only realised at the very top at its trigg point that we had to go back down to climb the other side of the horseshoe ridge at the fell called Kidsty Pike! The highest point of the C to C at 780m.”

Just a little detour then !!

Thank you, Deb and Ed for your support, your spirit and determination. You are incredible. We are in awe of and extremely proud of your efforts on our behalf. Thank you so much to everyone who has followed their journey and donated.

Look out for us posting their fantastic pics on social media this week.

It’s still possible to donate by visiting Debbie and Eddie’s JustGiving page . Thank you.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.
