About Disability Sheffield

Disability Sheffield Centre for Independent Living is a ‘not for profit’ pan-impairment organization, led by people who self-define as disabled people, whether they have a physical disability, a sensory impairment, a mental health condition or learning difficulties.

We support disabled adults to make their voice heard, whether through individual advocacy services or through a range of community networks and activity seeking to ensure disabled people are at the heart of all decision making across Sheffield.

Disability Sheffield has a policy of shortlisting and interviewing all disabled applicants who meet the minimum requirements for their jobs. The law will allow this. It would not be unlawful discrimination against a non-disabled applicant who also meets the minimum requirements but is not shortlisted.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
