Break or Breakdown?

Break or Breakdown?

Over the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on carers’ ability to access breaks. Not only are the majority of
carers (81%) providing more care than before the pandemic , while their responsibility has grown the support they used to rely on has
reduced. Unsurprisingly, many carers are now exhausted and worried about how they will continue to care without increased support.

This research by Carers UK published during the recent Carers Week shows the impact that reduced support from both services and family and friends has had on carers’ health and wellbeing.
It demonstrates that without the right interventions, such as increased funding for breaks, there could be more carer breakdown. View Report

Sheffield Carers Centre provide services and support for carers in the city including ‘Time for a Break’.

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
