The Magic Pen Is Back

The Magic Pen Is Back

The Magic Pen writing group has been relaunched, offering people with learning disabilities and autism the chance to put their thoughts into writing.

The free group, supported by Sheffield Voices is run by people with learning disabilities and supported by experienced professional writers and volunteers. It has moved to an afternoon slot of 2-3pm every Friday, starting on December 3rd.

The group offers lots of friendly chat with the chance to write poems and stories together and to share anything you have written. Taking part in writing groups is a proven way of improving your mental health and well-being. “Express yourself, be creative and feel good!’‘ is the group’s motto No experience is needed. Participants don’t even have to write or read anything if they don’t want to.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference
