Healthwatch Sheffield want to understand more about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on local people and their care and support and are asking you to complete their survey. Their findings will help local decision makers decide how to improve services in the future.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak Healthwatch Sheffield cannot visit care homes to hear from residents directly , but it’s more important than ever that they hear about people’s experience of living in residential or nursing care.
If you or a relative live in a care home, or if you work in one, Healthwatch Sheffield would like to hear from you and will then share good practice and raise issues with Sheffield City Council, as well as various boards and committees across the city to make sure your voice has an impact.

Healthwatch Sheffield are working with researchers from the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) to recruit people for a Public Involvement in Research Group (PIRG).Group members will meet virtually or face to face and regularly review ongoing research, new applications for grants and the development of new ideas and products that aim to help people to move more and improve their wellbeing.

#SpeakUp is back! Healthwatch have launched the third round of their small grants programme, designed for community, voluntary, and not-for-profit groups to help their communities to speak up about their health and social care. Applications are open until 27th February 2020.

Please fill in their short survey and let them know what you think are the key issues in health and social care in Sheffield. Your responses will influence Healthwatch Sheffield’s priorities over the next 2-3 years, as well as informing other work that they do, such as raising issues at meetings and visiting services.

Do you find it hard to get an appointment? Does the doctor show understanding of your caring role and how it impacts on you? Do they link you to the right services to help you? Healthwatch want to hear about all your experiences.

Make sure you go to the Winter Gardens this month and have a look at the Healthwatch Sheffield Exhibition “celebrating people who inspired by their own experience, or someone close to them, are using their insights to make things better for others” in Sheffield. Nominations came from organisations such as SAYiT, Manor & Castle Development Trust and Disability Sheffield. The exhibition is open until 25 August.
