    Mencap has launched a national campaign to transform how the NHS treats people with learning disabilities in hospital and is looking for local people to tell of their experiences. If you have a learning disability and want to give your views and suggestions for improvement please complete the Sheffield Treat Me Well hospital survey produced by Sheffield Mencap and Gateway’s Hospital Campaign Group.

They are about to launch a project called Right to Participate, which aims to increase awareness of the Equality Act, especially the ways it can protect disabled people from discrimination in everyday situations.

  • One+Plus One Assistance Scheme at SIV

    Are you aware of the Sheffield International Venues ( SIV ) One+Plus One scheme. The scheme provides free access for a carer, family member, support worker or friend for anyone requiring support to part in leisure opportunities. SIV has told us that over 100 people have benefited from the scheme over the past year, with over 6,000 attendances and are keen to make sure that people know about and use the scheme.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
