Sheffield GPs Urge You To Seek Help
22 June 2020
New findings from the NHS show that four in ten people are so concerned about being a burden on the NHS, that it has stopped them from seeking help from their GP during the covid-19 outbreak. NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is encouraging people to seek help from their GP if they are concerned about changes to their health or body saying “ You aren’t wasting our time, essential NHS services continue to be here for you during the pandemic and please be reassured that special measures are in place within GP services for the safety of patients and staff “.

Gig Buddies Launches Coronavirusfest

Gig Buddies” is a programme run by national charity Stay Up Late, that supports people with learning disabilities to see live music through their volunteering befriending service.In response to the Coronavirus lockdown, Gig Buddies has brought many of its services online including; virtual coffee mornings, art clubs, evening socials and @Coronavirusfest – a virtual music festival to keep their beneficiaries, supporters and general public connected through music.

Temporary Changes to Footpaths and Highways in Sheffield

Bread for Sheffield Provides You with Flour and Families with Food

The Coronavirus crisis has caused hardship for many families already struggling for food. St Mary’s Church and Community Centre has started the ‘Bread for Sheffield’ scheme so you can purchase flour ( and yeast ) from a range of top quality flours from Huskins at cost price and get baking again. Customers are asked to make a donation on top of the cost of the flour, 50% of which will go to the St Mary’s food box delivery scheme, and 50% will go to support local food banks.

Move & Chat with Sheffield Cycling 4 All

During the Covid-19 outbreak our cycling project Sheffield Cycling 4 All has suspended the cycling sessions offering disabled people the opportunity to ride a wide array of adapted trikes. The good news is we’ve launched a new online exercise session every Wednesday at 11am to help our participants and anyone else who wants to join us, keep fit and well until we’re back cycling together. Move & Chat offers a fun, gentle online exercise session led by a qualified instructor followed by an optional informal chat with other participants.We’re also offering 1 on 1 cycling sessions in Hillsborough park on a case by case basis, a trike Loan scheme and sports equipment for your home to keep you active.

Launch of Test And Trace To Fight Covid-19

Thousands of contact tracers are making their first phone calls to track down people who will be told to self-isolate under new test and trace schemes in England and Scotland. Tracers will text, email or call people who test positive with coronavirus and ask who they have had contact with. The new NHS Test and Trace service has the capacity to trace 10,000 contacts per day. The Gov.UK website provides an overview of how the new scheme works.
