    Sheffield NHS CCG has launched a campaign ahead of Ramadan to raise awareness that having the Covid vaccine does not break your fast.Local Muslim faith leaders, working in partnership with the CCG and Sheffield City Council, are spreading the message that getting vaccinated while fasting is allowed in Islam.

    Financial Impact of Covid-19 on Disabled People

    The Joseph Rowntree Foundation, an independent social change organisation working to solve UK poverty, has issued this new report saying that disabled people on ‘legacy’ benefits (Employment and Support Allowance, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Income Support) are losing out on government support during the Coronavirus crisis. Meanwhile Sheffield City Council has reported there is a low uptake for their Covid-19 Emergency Assistance Grant and is urging people to apply. If you need support to apply you can call the council on their dedicated helpline number on 0114 273 4567 .

    Tier 3 Restrictions from 2 December

    The Government has announced that Sheffield will come out of lockdown on Wednesday 2 December and enter into the tier 3 ‘Very High’ alert category, along with Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham. Some tier 3 restrictions will be different this time compared to when Sheffield was in tier 3 before lockdown started on 5 November.The government will announce the arrangements that will be in place over the Christmas period shortly.

    Sheffield High Category Rules and Restrictions

    The government has introduced local COVID alert levels in a bid to ensure “the right levels of intervention in the right places to manage outbreaks”. Local COVID alert levels set out information for local authorities, residents and workers about what to do and how to manage the outbreak in their area. Local COVID alert levels are sometimes called ‘tiers’ or known as a ‘local lockdown’. Sheffield has been placed in the ‘High’ category. Find out what that means for you.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
