Study into Impact of UK Welfare Reforms on Self Employed and Business Owners

Welfare reforms over the past decade have affected the incomes, living standards and opportunities of many groups in society. Disabled people of working age have been particularly affected by changes to work and disability-related benefits, such as Access to Work and Disability Living Allowance. We know little however about the impact of these changes on disabled people who are in self-employment and business ownership. This pilot study, funded by Manchester Metropolitan University, aims to investigate the impact of welfare reforms on disabled self-employed people and business owners’ health and wellbeing, working practices and business performance.

The project is led by Dr Eva Kašperová, working with Professor Julia Rouse. For more details View flier or contact Eva at e.kasperova@mmu.ac.uk for more information

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
