    A failure to plan for fully accessible homes has been uncovered by BBC Freedom of Information requests to hundreds of local councils, underscoring what the Equality and Human Rights Commission has called a ““hidden crisis” in housing for disabled. Cities such as Sheffield, Coventry and Bradford currently have no quotas.

    Sheffield Cost of Living Fund Donations

    South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation has set up a JustGiving page asking for donations to a Sheffield Cost of Living Fund from anyone who feels able to help those who are struggling more than them.The fund will be made available as grants to organisations, including food banks, that are supporting local people with the cost of living crisis.The Chancellor announced new measures to support low income households at the end of April.

  • Local Assistance Scheme : Grants from Sheffield City Council

    Following the abolition of some parts of the Department for Work and Pensions Social Fund (Community Care Grants and Crisis Loans), Sheffield City Council launched the Local Assistance Scheme in June to support independent living in the community and Sheffield residents in crisis situations.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
