Sheffield Voices Big Voice on Access

Sheffield Voices Big Voice on Access

We are pleased to announce that Sheffield Voices next Big Voice Conference is being held at the Town Hall Hall on June 21st from 10am- 3pm. Our theme this session is Access. We are also running this event as part of a few events for Learning Disability Week. 17th – 21st June.

We want to know what access and accessibility means to you. We want to know what you think is good, and what needs to be done better. This can be physical access, like being able to move around the city in a wheelchair, things like accessible information, or whatever you need to access different things.

We want to hear from as many people as possible. Here’s our Access Work Sheet . We would love it if different services could help people to fill these out or use them as a starting point for sessions. Please send any completed worksheets to info@sheffieldvoices.org.uk

We will also be making a collaborative art piece about an ‘Accessible Sheffield’ on the day. We invite anyone who would like to, to make art or 3d models for us to use on the day. For example, a cardboard building for the map.

This event is for people with a learning disability and Autistic people living in the Sheffield area. You can come as part of a group, or by yourself. Everyone is welcome – do let us know if you are bringing a bigger group along.

We would also like to invite service representatives to come to our Big Voice event. Ideally this will be 2-4 people per organisation. We have limited space in the town hall, and we want everyone to be comfortable, so please do contact us to book your space at info@sheffieldvoices.org.uk

See our Big Voice Conference Flyer for more information about what to expect on the day and our contact details – do contact us if you have any questions!

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.
