Paid Placements for Disabled Young People

Paid Placements for Disabled Young People

Earlier this year the National Lottery Heritage Fund announced a £2million investment to create 70 paid placements for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the natural heritage sector, to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Disabled young people are among those whose applications will be prioritised by host organisations.

There are placements all over the country with the nearest to Sheffield taking place in the Hope Valley. This is a Trainee Centre Assistant at the Woodcraft Folk’s Lockerbrook Centre site. Established in 1925, Woodcraft Folk run co-educational groups and centres for children & young people aiming to build sustainable futures and develop rights, equality, friendship, peace & co-operation.

You can apply here. The closing date is 12PM Friday 11th November 2022

You can learn more about other nature focused roles and the whole New to Nature programme on Groundwork UK’s website.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
