I’ll be Here in the Morning

I’ll be Here in the Morning

If you’re a care worker, an unpaid carer or receive care have you been inspired to get creative during these extremely challenging times? Sheffield University is looking for entries to ‘I’ll be here in the morning’, a digital exhibition celebrating our community of care and designed to “give a voice to the unheard and put faces to the unseen”.

Even if you have never created art before you can submit your entries to the week-long digital exhibition taking place from 7-15 November 2020. The deadline for submissions is 20 September.

Sheffield Uni is looking for all kinds of entries including (but definitely not limited to):

  • Photographs
  • Drawings/paintings/illustrations
  • Poems
  • Short stories
  • Short films (2 minutes maximum)
  • Recipes that you cook for a loved one to bring particular comfort
  • Pieces of music or favourite songs, with a note of why they’re so important to you

Find out more and submit your entry here .

The exhibition will form part of the ESRC Festival of Social Sciences, and the pieces will be on public display. Please keep this in mind if you decide to participate. Due to the sensitive nature of the subject, you must ensure you have the consent of anyone featured in your submission, and there will be options to anonymise your entry if you prefer. The University may seek to follow up with you about your submission, but any further participation will remain completely optional.

Please contact the exhibition team on hereinthemorning@sheffield.ac.uk for further information or submission queries.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
