Face Coverings : Why and How to Wear Them Safely

Face Coverings : Why and How to Wear Them Safely

From 8 August face coverings need to be worn in additional indoor settings unless you are exempt from wearing a face covering. View List of Places .

Greg Fell, Director of Public Health in Sheffield, explains the importance of wearing face coverings correctly with continued social distancing and hygiene in his video Face Coverings – why and how to wear them safely, . He emphasises that “face coverings are not a panacea” and the actions that make the most difference to reducing transmission are, in order:

  • Staying at home (if you have symptoms)
  • Keeping your distance (2m where possible)
  • Frequent handwashing/alcohol gel
  • Wearing a face covering

Face coverings, he goes on to say, have a particular benefit in enclosed public spaces and help protect other people from the droplets the wearer may be breathing out. This is particularly important where people are asymptomatic (where someone has Coronavirus but does not have any symptoms) or have Coronavirus but are in the early stages and are not yet aware they have it because they have not yet developed symptoms.

All of the latest information about Face Coverings including how to obtain an exemption card is available on our ( Disability Sheffield’s ) Coronavirus Information and Support page , just click on the Face Coverings tab.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
