Disability Rights UK Research and Manifesto on Brexit

Disability Rights UK (DRUK) have announced details of their Disability Rights Manifesto for Brexit. The announcement follows a roundtable held in March 2017, attended by over 40 delegates from a range of disability organisations, including Centres for Independent Living, charities, trade Unions and individual disabled people.

The Manifesto is the result of analysis of the issues surrounding Brexit and it’s effect on disabled people, which was commissioned by DRUK to be carried out by Professor Anne Lawson, Director of the Centre for Disability Studies, University of Leeds. In addition, DRUK have participated in several other events focused on debates surrounding Brexit, held by; the European Network for Independent Living, Thomas Paine Initiative, Equality and Diversity Forum, Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust and Cloisters Law Firm.

The Disability Rights UK Research and Manifesto on Brexit can be viewed on the DRUK website and feedback is encouraged. Let us know what you think of the manifesto in the comments below.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
