Pressure Ulcer Prevention at Home

Pressure Ulcer Prevention at Home

Skills for Care is working with the University of Leeds on a study they are undertaking into Pressure Ulcer Prevention at Home. They are trying to find out what resources Personal Assistants (PAs) need to help them prevent pressure ulcers at home.

The project is looking for personal assistants (PAs) who supports people with long term neurological conditions in the community (for example, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Spina Bifida, Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Muscular Dystrophy (MD), Cerebral Palsy (CP) or Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)), who would you be willing to take part in a face-to-face focus group meeting in Leeds on the 4th of July.

During the focus group, you will be invited to share your experience and opinions about pressure ulcer risk management. Participants will also be invited to an additional workshop, later in the project. Participation in both groups is entirely voluntary. Standard rate travel expenses will be reimbursed.

This project has been approved by the University of Leeds, School of Medicine Research Ethics Committee (ref no MREC 21-069) . Here is an overview of the study and Consent Form

If you’d like to take part please contact PUPstudy@leeds.ac.uk or phone 0113 343 0282. A researcher will get in touch to discuss the project in more detail, answer any questions and send more detailed written information.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
