Easy Read Guides To Help with the Cost of Living

The cost of living crisis is difficult enough for everyone but people with learning disabilities and autism are likely to find it even harder to access information. Fortunately several organisations have set out information about ways to cope in an easy read format.

Learning Disability England have created a section on their website with a range of cost of living resources , including links to lots of easy read printables

Meanwhile Mencap, the national organisation for people with learning disabilities and autism which also has a Sheffield branch has released a factsheet on the cost of living crisis, giving information on how to cope with rising costs of food and energy and saving as much money as possible. You can see it here.

Inclusion London has also produced a cost of living guide, which is also available in different coloured background easy read versions.

Speakup Self Advocacy has produced information under the title My home, my energy. I have the power!. This lists tips to help take control of your bills, stay warm and healthy and keep safe. It can also be downloaded here.

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
