Can you Help Improve Direct Payments?

Can you Help Improve Direct Payments?

Are you a direct payments user? Do you have personal assistants (PAs)? And do you want to improve the service for yourself and for others? If so you could offer invaluable advice to Sheffield City Council in various ways.

They are looking for local people with experience of using direct payments or buying their own support to join their Direct Payment Market Group, working to help shape a creative and flexible mix (or market) of care and support options.

The group meets monthly and works to improve and develop the market choice of services for people in Sheffield who buy care and support, delivered by different organisations and companies, to meet their needs.

Or if you are interested in helping to make it easier for people to attract and recruit high quality personal assistants in Sheffield, if you employ PAs, or if you are a PA yourself, they want to hear from you about your experiences and ideas to develop the PA workforce.

They are also on the look out for local people with experience of Direct Payments to review and improve how they audit Direct Payments , check how well they are working, making it simple and easy to follow and understand.

People have said they would like more information about the different options for managing their direct payments and want this information to be accessible, easy to understand and easily available.

So they are also looking for people to design a brochure that contains information about the different options available to manage a direct payment, information about the different money management companies on the Council’s Recognised Provider List, as well as other information to support people to make choices which are important to them.

You can find full details of the schemes here.=

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
