Disabled people and people living with a long-term health condition are being asked to rate their treatment by health and social care services in a survey set up by the Care Quality Commission. The CQC plan to shape future policy with the information captured in this survey.

The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock, MP, has officially opened the new Stroke Pathway Assessment and Rehabilitation Centre at Norfolk Park.The Minister was joined by staff and patients at an official ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the centre, which ensures patients who are not able to be discharged straight home from hospital receive specialist rehabilitative support, 24 hours a day, at a critical point in their recovery.

Spectrum Theatre Company, an integrated group which contains both autistic and neurotypical talents has launched its Christmas show – a musical entitled Sterling Silver, which is set in Sheffield almost a century ago and tells the story of how buffer girl, Lizzie, and Daniel, heir to Thornton’s cutlery, fall for each other at a time when such things aren’t supposed to happen.

Disability Sheffield, with funding from Skills for Care is co-producing a ‘How to Guide’ for supervision and appraisals in health and social care in Sheffield. Over the next few weeks, starting on Friday 23 November, we are holding a number of workshops to find out peoples’ views and experiences about person centred approaches and how they can be put into workplace supervision and appraisals. The workshops are mainly for front line workers and managers in health and social care in Sheffield. One of the workshops on Monday 3 December from 10.30am to 12.30pm at The Circle is specifically for people who employ personal assistants and others who have an interest in this area.

The Money Advice Service, an independent organisation set up to help people make the most of their money by giving free, impartial advice, have launched this new guide detailing how to make the most of your Universal Credit payments in England and Wales. Their guides are a good starting point for thinking about money in a number of situations.
