Sheffield’s stainless steel Willow Tree Memorial will be unveiled in the Balm Green Gardens, Sheffield City Centre. 23rd March is the National Day of Reflection and commemorates the anniversary of the nationwide lockdown, brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meet in front of the Town Hall at 11:45 a.m. and process to Balm Green Gardens, where the tree will be unveiled by the Lord Mayor and the Leader of Sheffield City Council.
There will be a handful of short speeches about the Willow Tree Memorial, including what has influenced the design of the tree and what we hope it will mean to the people of Sheffield.
As part of the event, a number of ribbons will be presented to be attached to the tree, and you will have a chance to read the fragments of stories from Sheffield residents that have been inscribed into the steel branches.
Please note that this is an invitation only event, but it is in a public space if people are passing by during the ceremony.
