Sheffield University Dysarthria Survey

Do you have difficulty with your speech? If so, researchers at the University of Sheffield are seeking the views of people with Dysarthria, a common speech difficulty, focusing on how people with dysarthria communicate emotions.

They are inviting people to complete this online survey in a bid to discover how people with Dysarthria communicate their emotions. For example, you may use a communication aid to help you communicate with others.

The research is trying to find out more about:

  • How difficult it is to properly communicate your emotions to other people
  • Which emotions you feel are important for you to convey to other people
  • What methods you tend to use to communicate your emotions to other people
  • Whether there is a difference in the way you communicate emotions to familiar and unfamiliar people

This research has ethical approval from the University of Sheffield and is conducted by Lubna Alhinti, a PhD student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Sheffield.

If you have any questions or concerns about this study, please contact Lubna by emailing: laalhinti1@sheffield.ac.uk

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
