Invitation to join the Peer Leadership Academy and the Strategic Co-production Group.

Do you have ‘lived experience’ of a personalised approach to health care and want to be more involved in the development and delivery of health care programmes? Then the next Peer Leadership Academy and the Strategic Co-production Group could be for you.

Peer Leaders play a vital role in helping to deliver and shape key NHS personalisation health care programmes, including personal health budgets and Integrated Personal Commissioning , by providing an essential ‘lived experience’ perspective.

The Peer Leadership Academy is a personal development programme to help peer leaders build their knowledge, skills and confidence so they can play an active role in the development and delivery of programmes on a regional and national level.

‘Graduates’ of the Academy then become part of the important on-going Peer Network which helps to shape these programmes and drive-up demand and awareness for these services.

The next Peer Leadership Academy starts in the Autumn and the deadline for new applications is 25 August 2017.

The Strategic Co-production Group is also made up of people with ‘lived experience’ of a personalised health care approach and its members are involved in high level thinking and co-production around the personal health budgets and Integrated Personal Commissioning programmes. They work closely with the national team and programme board to help achieve the aims of these programmes and help drive-up awareness.

The Group is open for new members and the deadline for applications is 11 August 2017.

NHS England is particularly keen to hear from people with ‘lived experience’ of personalised approaches to health and social care living in Sheffield and other geographical areas in England.

Visit the Peoplehub website for more information about the Peer Leadership Academy and the Strategic Co-production Group or contact Jo Fitgerald at jo.fitzgerald@nhs.net
for more details and for the application forms.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
